Steering repairs
Heavy, noisy or vague steering diagnosed and repaired, including electric power steering faults.
- Power steering
- Track rod ends
- Steering racks
What we do
Your steering should feel light, precise and quiet. When it becomes heavy, knocks as you turn or lets the car wander, something in the system is worn or failing, and it needs looking at before it affects your safety or your MOT.
Many modern cars use electric power steering, controlled by sensors and a motor. As auto electricians we diagnose those faults properly, as well as the mechanical joints and racks that wear over time.

Track rod ends
Worn track rod ends and inner joints replaced.
Steering racks
Leaking or worn steering racks repaired or replaced.
Warning lights

Questions we get asked
Why has my steering gone heavy?
Common causes are low power steering fluid, a failing pump, or a fault in an electric power steering system. We test the system to find which.
My power steering warning light is on. Can you help?
Yes. Many modern cars use electric power steering, and diagnosing its faults is part of our electrical work.
Is a knocking noise when turning dangerous?
It often means a worn joint such as a track rod end. It should be checked soon, as worn steering joints affect control and will fail an MOT.
Do I need an alignment after steering work?
Usually, yes. Replacing track rod ends changes the alignment, so we will advise when it is needed.
